How to Change the .NET Framework Version with Plesk Control Panel

By default Windows Shared Hosting Plesk Control Panel package comes pre-configured with APS.NET Framework version 2.0

When choosing your ASP.NET version through the control panel, you are actually choosing the CLR version (Common Language Runtime Version), This means that in order to use ASP.NET 3.5, you must select "Version 2" as ASP.NET 3.5 is an add-on for CLR 2.0. The same is true about ASP.NET 4.5 - selecting ASP.NET 4.0 actually loads the .NET 4.5 assemblies.

If you wish to change the version of ASP.NET Framework running on your website, you can do so from the Plesk Control Panel using following steps:

Parallels Plesk Control Panel version 11.x

  1. Log in to your Control Panel.
  2. Under My Subscriptions click the subscription you want to manage.
  3. Click the Websites & Domains tab.
  4. Click Show Advanced Operations.
  5. Click ASP.NET Settings.
  6. Under Tools select Change Version.
  7. Use the radio button to select the ASP.NET version you would like to use.
  8. Click OK.


Parallels Plesk Control Panel version Plesk 9.x

  1. Log in to your Control Panel.
  2. Click the Domains option and select the domain you wish to manage.
  3. Click the Web Hosting Settings.
  4. Under the Services section use the drop down menu to select the ASP.NET version you would like to use.
  5. Click OK.
